Sridevi: A Star Prowess

cover_final

Sridevi’s sudden demise came as a shock and left her fans and contemporaries deeply grieving. Known to be Hindi cinema’s first “female superstar” this iconic actress was someone we all grew up admiring and loving. Boasting a career of 50 years spanning across 300 films, Sridevi was someone who maintained a shy persona behind the camera but became a live-wire on screen. Be it the meek versus daring double role in Chaalbaaz or a quirky screen presence in the memorable “Hawa-Hawai” song, her contagious enthusiasm and comic timing could not be missed!

Adding to her acting extravagance, she was also a fashion icon par excellence. Women looked up to her and emulated her style after every movie making her a diva. From the many best looks, here’s us remembering her through these pictures.

cover_final

We were in absolute awe when the creations of various designers cascaded down the ramps at The Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2018 showcase. It was an avant-garde, star-studded event in every accord. Beautiful creations, unending silhouettes and gorgeous looks were in full display at the 5-day event. Here’s looking at our favourites:

Anaam

Some serious eccentric style came alive at Anaam. The distinct silhouettes and solid colors added to the glam quotient and the state-of-the-art net like hair patterns were everything.

431-88 Shweta Kapur

431-88 by Shweta Kapur had everyday silhouettes making a statement. Just by zinging them a bit, the designer showcased how your usuals can become showstoppers.

Falguni&ShanePeacock.jpg

Falguni & Shane Peacock rocked the ramp in solid black and floral tapestry designs. Shimmer was used in certain bouts making it a striking element.

Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre’s pastel perfect outfits seemed great to be worn at Mehendis and Sangeets. You won’t have to look much far away to zero down on your summer wedding ensembles now.

Lajjoo C.

Bespoke femininity was rife at Lajjoo C. Variants of rust and moss coloured outfits made us want to embrace them colors simply.

Anamika Khanna_

Anamika Khanna showcased a varied concoction which all came together when the showstopper hit the ramp. A wide array of prints were used and we couldn’t think of better summer options.

Half Full Curve

Half Full Curve silenced the ideal body type argument and graced the ramp with stunner outfits. Subtle hues and pared down colors merged with flowy silhouettes and cowl bottoms to create a Goddess collection, like never before.

CROW

Minimal and breezy was the mantra at CROW. Think classy yet relaxed outfit styles that will keep you on-the-go while still lending a subtle statement.

Ikai Ragini Ahuja

Some easy styles and refreshing silhouettes welcomed us at Ikai by Ragini Ahuja. The designer introduced stripes in a relaxed and casual format.

LFWSR17D5S2aAnushree-ReddyRunway006

Refreshing florals welcomed us at Anushree Reddy’s show. The designer attested our belief of how pastels and florals are perfect for any occasion.

VineetRahul

We could not get over the beautiful florals at Vineet Rahul. The muted tones and pops of color were soothing to the eyes and the floral fascinators were the winner.

Breezy Vibes

The breezy colours and pastel tones at Eka by Rina Singh simply won our hearts. The models stood as a beautiful picture against the blue background and reminded us of distant paintings. Complementing the colours were the pastel drop earrings and fabric hair ribbons that we are planning to wear on sultry summer days.

Rad Fascinators and Anklets

We don’t know if Urvashi Kaur took inspiration from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party but it definitely seemed so. The fascinator hats made of watches and all embellishments you can never think of were definitely the star of the show. The wrist watches also served as stacked anklets and left us amazed.

Assorted Jewellery

We couldn’t have missed the bauble play that was happening at Mira by Radhika Jain. Every embellishment was crafted with love and ingenious finery making it an archive full of inspiration. From chokers, to statement necklaces to waist chains everything was well thought of. Extra points for that mogra lined lacework above the eyebrows.

Broad Chokers and Caps

Ritu Kumar stuck to luxuriant fabrics and classy demeanour, but what made heads turn was the distinctive styles of broad black chokers that the models wore. Some had center embellishments while other had trinkets. Accompanying the whole outfit were caps and hats of different styles that took the look to newer levels.

Quirk Funk

Savio Jon’s line also served as great refreshment and the trend of layering necklaces was put to full use. Every outfit on the runway was accompanied with a distinctive necklace that only made us swoon. From beads to tassels to other details, everything added up to lend the collection a glorious presence.

A whole lot of hair accessories, danglers and statement chokers also paved their way at the LFW Summer/ Resort 2017 and have inspired us enough to hoard our jewellery wardrobes again.
